HARVEST UPDATE - We are not currently offering Turkey or Pork. Check back in late Spring 2022, or drop us a line using our contact form.
We are a family farm and so, are learning to work together as a family on this huge, passionate endeavor of farming! We are Jason, Jennifer, and Iris Johnson-Hurst. Jason is the visionary and daily muscle. Jen supports it all with plenty of voice and experience and Iris keeps us focused on what is important.
Building Earth Farm was started in 2007 by Jason Hurst and Jen Johnson. This ten-acre organically maintained farm, located on Steamboat Island Road in Thurston County, produces fresh pastured turkey and pork. We are excited to be adding to the economic vitality of our community, and to the health of your family and ours and the planet we share through sustainable, organic agricultural practices. Our turkeys have a paddock of their own with lots of trees and grassland, like they are used to in the wild, allowing them to forage on the ground, run around and even fly up into the trees to roost during the day. Everyone goes inside at night to stay safe from wild predators. We also raise a limited amount of pork on pasture and organic feed. Contact Jason for more information about the current season's availability. If you would like to receive more information about Building Earth Farm and what we have to offer, please go to the Contact Form form on the home page, or email us at buildingearthfarm@farmandfruitstand.com. |
Ordering Turkey and Pork
Our meat birds are fully dressed for you to pick up and package at the Farm on the scheduled day of harvest of your choice. A dressed bird includes the giblets (gizzard, liver, heart). A deposit of $50.00 per turkey is due at the time of ordering. All deposit money is applied to your final order cost however $20.00 of every deposit is non-refundable in the event of customer cancellations. If you do not want your giblets, you are welcome to sell them to other Farm customers that day, or donate them back to the Farm. Average turkey size varies from 10-20 lbs, depending on the sex of the bird, the time of year and length of growing time. You are responsible for packaging your own birds so you will need to bring butcher paper and plastic bags (grocery store bags work well on top of butcher paper), or you may choose to put them in a clean cooler (or two depending on your order size) for transport home for packaging. We’ll provide a table and hand-rinse station for your use the day of pickup. Pork is also available from the farm, though on a much more limited basis than poultry. Let us know if you are interested so we can keep you posted on each harvest season for these organically raised, pastured meats. Please contact us to place your order. Once we hear from you, we'll reply with harvest dates for you to choose from. |
